Through the years, leadership has been categorised into paradigms of classical, transactional and visionary leadership. Leadership paradigms have risen out of the various theoretical constructs as seen various situations throughout the history of business organisations. The paradigms of leadership may differ in perspectives as in how leadership may be viewed . Leadership may be viewed from the person, position or process point of view. When leadership is viewed from a person’s point of view, the person’s traits and competencies may be viewed as important. 4.2.6 Leader integrator:
In today’s complex business environment, the leaders are continuously scanning the environment, engaging themselves in the learning processes and discover possibilities, mobilise positive energy and are building commitment for their organisations to achieve a shared and energetic view of the future.
However, this increases the need for better specialisation and also integration of tasks. In the future, the leaders may have to struggle at reconciling the need for specialisation and integration of effort. Therefore, the organisations may have to establish departments for integrating the efforts of the organisation towards a specific vision.
Integration is an achievement of the unity of effort among the functional specialists in business. The integrator’s role involves handling various tasks such as conflict management , decision-making, establishing standards of quality , output , targets, schedules and many other
