Jacob and Chris both play the same position, but Chris is a more all-around player. They are both going into their senior season of baseball, but Jacob has not received any offers yet. Chris has talked to the coaches of the University of Alabama and Clemson University about the possibilities of receiving athletic scholarships for baseball. Jacob finds out that his step brother is getting recruited by two SEC colleges, and he grows very angry. The Westside Wolves are heading to the district championship this week. The team has put up some good numbers and Chris has put a lot of thought into what his decision is going to be in regards to where he is going to play baseball in college. After 7 long innings, the wolves come out with a loss to the gators from Cross Creek High school with a score of 2-1. The bus ride home was filled with tears and talks about the season and how all of the seniors were such great players throughout their careers. It has been two weeks since they lost the district championship game, and graduation is creeping closer and closer. Chris has put in so much thought into where he wants to play in college and he will be announcing his commitment on signing day, May 31st. Meanwhile, Jacob learns that Chris will be announcing his commitment knowing he still hasn’t received any offers. The baseball team plans a party the weekend before Chris’ signing day to congratulate the signees, the commits, and bring the team together one last time to celebrate a good season. Chris knows that if he goes to this party then he might be peer pressured into doing something that he doesn’t want to do. He knows that he has a lot at stake with his future and he doesn’t want to risk losing anything that he has worked so hard for. However, Jacob has a different plan in mind. Jacob tricks Chris into going to the party, after he lied to him about taking him to a baseball game instead. Chris realizes where they are, and decides to stay with the team knowing what all is at stake if he does something he isn’t supposed to do.
