Law Enforcement in the United States alone deal with millions of child abuse cases each year. From maltreatment to domestic abuse, each child abuse case is unique and very important. Children who experience abuse or neglect tend to face many challenges while growing up. Many children become violent when they become older due to them growing up in an abusive home. A pattern usually occurs when dealing with a child abuse case. This pattern goes as follows: The child’s guardian/guardians abuse the child because they misbehaved, and then the child goes to school and does not go near other children or adults, or they are abusive to their peers. Child abuse cases typically take weeks or even months to solve. Police officers are not the only ones to investigate child abuse cases. DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) which is bases in Illinois will get involved in the case, as well as lawyers, and even the FBI often investigate child abuse cases with a goal to get the abuse victims away from their abusive home and to get them in a stable and safe environment. Only 21% of people report signs of child abuse/neglect in the United States. Only 64% of mandated reporters report child abuse.
