In the article Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities 2015: Statistics and Intervention they created a bar chart to show the statistics of maltreatment fatalities and child neglect was the leading factor. 72.9% of children who are neglected die. Many of these children are helpless and can't live on their own. The article shows a pie chart on ages of fatalities, and almost fifty percent of the children that die from abuse and neglect are under the age of one. Seventy percent of fatalities are between the ages of 0 and 3. Children who have never learned to talk, walk, write, read, etc. These children are absolutely helpless and are unable to fight back, or even tell anyone. In another article, Pulling Back the Curtains: Undetected Child Abuse and the Need for Increased Regulation of Home Schools in Missouri the author says “Additionally, 81.3% of those victims were by a parent either acting alone or with someone else” (Barnett). These children are now even more helpless because it's the people they thought they could love or just people they are around every day of their short lives. In the article Reviewing Existing Literature on Efficacy of Psychotherapies on Mental Health Disorders in Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, the author states “ The tendency of thinking very negatively and unrealistically by a person is very natural in common especially among people who have been in different situations” (Athullya). Many don't believe child abuse is a real thing because they have never been exposed to it. Many also think that people are simply talking about chores or punishments, what they don't understand is that it's a much bigger issue. The article goes on to talk about a new way for victims to forget about their experience. It states “ The bilateral stimulation helps to activate the way messages travel in the brain and helps you process the lingering aspects of the memory” (Athullya). This could help many victims move on from the incident and go on to live a better life. This discovery can put better thoughts into people's minds. The government is also trying to help the situation with laws. The article states that “ A major step toward preventing Child abuse occurred just recently when the agency resurrected the family preservation program and signed a four-year, $1.6 million contract with Presley Ridge to do the service” (Athullya). For years many were trying to get this law enforced but was unable to because they didn't have enough money. Now that they do this law will help make the
