Capital Expenditure Budget

Decent Essays
Capital expenditure budget outlines the expenses a company needs to purchase major capital items such as buildings and equipment. An item must exceed a certain amount to be considered a capital expense. In most health care organizations the amount ranges from $300 to $1000 (Yoder-Wise, 2016. p. 225). An example of a capital item would be needing to replace an Omnicell machine. The capital expenditure budget should include the urgency and importance of the item, a description of it, which quarter to be purchased, and the annual needs of the equipment (Roussel, 2016).

Budgeting assignment Based on the graphs and reports from my Clearcheckbook I would be able to say that my spending habits are modest compared. Very rarely did my expenses exceed those of the rest of the class, though I did see some room for improvement in the area of miscellaneous during the month of February. During that month I spent a total of $583 which was a little too steep seeing as though my classmates on spent an average of $222. Most of that money was spent toward activities on the weekend with my teammates, whether it was something such as bowling or roller skating. If I was to cut back on some of that reckless spending going towards the items that I want instead of the items that I need my account would be in much better shape.…

The president proposes a budget each year and leaders of the other parties in congress may also propose a budget. These numbers are large and sometimes difficult to grasp, but the preamble gives us ways to think about them and to judge how our budget is spent. Personal Intrinsic Motivators When intrinsic motivation is present, it can have a strong influence on an individual’s behaviour. In healthcare, this gives rise to individuals who are dedicated and passionate about their work. Manion (2011) identified five intrinsic motivators that influence professional behaviour: “healthy relationships, meaningful purpose, competence, choice and progress” (p. 297) and in this instance, all five were present. Workplace engagement is in place when the presence of these factors serves to stimulate and inspire individuals to achieve happiness in their professional lives.…

Hi Derreck, Thank you for reading my post and for the kind feedback. Part of the nurse manager’s responsibility is to engage nurses in coming up with creative ways to increase the unit’s productivity. Learning House (2007) cited great ideas on how to enhance productivity, e.g., eliminating inefficient processes, wise use of supplies and care in the use of equipment, being mindful of sick calls/overtime, and promoting the unit services through adept marketing strategies. I agree, that wastefulness kills productivity. One solution I would suggest is for the staff to suppose that’s it’s their money that is being wasted.…

In order to maintain business, it is integral to at least break even. The break even analysis is very important in the management of day to day operations and the future outlook in a business. There are several business principles related to patient and system costs in health care that are needed to maintain safe, quality, patient-centered care that is fiscally sound. For this discussion, I will put myself in the shoes of a nurse manager, director of nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, or business owner and consider three of the principles from the Greg Fisher Power Point (2008). The principles I will examine are: 1) decide what makes you different; 2) manage employees; and 3) set goals. The reason why I selected these three business principles is that they appear to me to be a good place to start the groundwork for any business model, including the field of health care.…
