Recycling and disposal procedures were established so there was consistency in how materials management was carried out. Consistency results in safety and cost savings, less waste. If something works well, stick with it - those things that work become established procedures.

It is important for my organisation to recycle because it saves organisation money. They also need to be aware of their responsibilities in relation to environmental legislation. This covers issues such as air, water and noise pollution, the disposal of waste materials and the use of packaging. In the office we recycle paper that has been shredded or that has been wasted by the photocopier or printer into a bag to be collected and re-used. The toner is put back in the packaging to be sent back to the company to be re-filled. Plastic bottles is put in special bins to be collecting and recycled.
