There have been some protests against spaceX development in Brownsville, suggesting it could affect wildlife refuge and tourism industry. However, the benefits in return seem incomparable. Aside from the direct profits of bringing about 600 direct jobs, as well as growth to the local university, SpaceX will also attract a new wave of tourists to the valley.
The valley where Brownsville, Texas is located is one of the valleys with the highest rate of financial assisted family’s in the United States, this resulting in the lack of jobs available in this area. A way for Brownsville to grow economically is through the increase in jobs offered in the region. Besides bringing around 600 jobs, Brownsville now appears on the list of SpaceX locations.
