Comparison Between Kent State University and Boston Massacre Shootings
History doesn’t repeat itself. We are the one who make history ingeminate its past story again and again. I believe that history is the academic discipline which analyze the past events along with the memories and discovery. In the journey of repeating those stories I got chance to study and research about the two most misfortune gun firing in the Kent State University and in the Boston massacre. The shootings were a catastrophe. Both shootings were unplanned and on the spot without any prior notice and information. Dissatisfaction and argumentation among the security provider and the public gave the revolution in the street. The mournful story of Kent State University in Ohio was the shooting and killing four students wounding nine others at the same time where twelve members of Troop G simultaneously turned around and fired their weapons and gun in the mass crowd. …show more content…
The incident took place in Prentice Hall parking lot of university which was on 4 may 1970. This rebellious war between the safe guard and students were the result of a four-day long protestation which increased in the spur of the movement. The war took away the life of innocent educate. The issue regarding the war arise when they President Richard M. Nxon announced that the T.V troops would be sent to Cambodia and the supply lines will be blocked from North Vietnamese into South Vietnamese. During this time, many people were sent to Vietnam to serve in the army where they lose over 50000 soldiers in the battle. After the announcement made by Nixon, students from Ohio University tried to protest themselves and so they painted anti-war slogans in the building against the announcement of Nixon and they buried the U.S constitution to symbolize its “Murder”. Therefore, the Ohio National Guard could not tolerate their activities and ended up with a shooting and taking off their life. On the other hand, Boston Massacre is also remembered as one of the revolutionary war between the Army soldiers and the citizens. This unfortunate mishap occurred on the night of 5 March, 1770 when a group of fifty people gathered outside the State House to protest the British soldiers in the city. The British soldiers were sent to dissent custom commissioners. Inhabitant of the city named Edward Garrick insulted the soldier’s commander officer who were standing outside the state house. Afterward, the commander couldn’t control his insult and hit Garrick with his rifle in his face. Suddenly, the crowd emerge even further, then the Captain Thomas arrived with more soldiers. The crowd started throwing rocks and the sticks at the soldiers where it become compulsion to fire more shots to protect themselves. Five colonist died and eight others were wounded badly. After the war was over, captain Preston along with his soldiers were jailed. Later, the Captain was acquitted of all charges but two soldiers were convicted of manslaughter. At the end, tensions between those British soldiers and colonial people were settled down temporarily. And the Boston Massacre victims were buried in Granary Burying Ground where their memories are remembered even today. The similarity
