Summary The book “A Child Called It” is a very inspiring book. It is about a boy named Dave that is abused by his mother. Dave’s dad and mom are both alcoholics. His mom is the one that abuses him and doesn’t call him by his name. Instead she calls him by “it” or “that boy”. Dave was not allowed to eat with his family or play with his brothers. When he went to school the teachers had to hide the lunch because he would steal the lunches. He was not able to eat at his house ever and if he was lucky he would get a little morsel of food. Dave’s mother would put chemicals on the trash because Dave would sometimes eat out of the trash.
