Well, thankfully, there is no need to worry about that reality, due to big game trophy hunting. This further prohibits anyone and everyone from hunting the endangered animals. Africa is known for being a less developed country, with less income than first world countries. Big game trophy hunting closes that economical gap. As the author states, “Citation 1”. *Put Explanation Here*. Some may argue that this wealth is just restitution for killing off the precious wildlife of the location. On the contrary, there are many government officials who encourage hunting, due to the fact that most wildlife hunted can pose a problem to the people. That wealth is reason enough to allow big game trophy hunting. In summation, big game trophy hunting should be allowed because it keeps the animal population in check, provides an invaluable food resource, and contributes to the economy of Africa. Examples of how trophy hunting can help conservation efforts are giving values to certain games and sharing their revenue with the local population, decreasing the cost of maintaining wildlife reserves through trophy hunting safaris, donating money to conservation effects in developing nations (“Trophy Hunting”). However, scientific research has shown that trophy hunting does not benefit animal conservation; in fact, it raises the threat of extinction. According to Peter Lindsey, a Policy Initiative Coordinator for Panthera 's Lion Program, “Trophy hunting has contributed to population declines outside (and inside some) protected areas in Tanzania, a country that holds between 30–50% of Africa’s lions” (1). While some revenue from trophy hunts go to conservation efforts, it is not the major source of income. Most of the revenue generated goes to “commercial outfitters”…

Another initiative that seeks to protect Africa's elephant populations from poaching activities is the Tanzanian organization Africa's Wildlife Trust. In 1998 environmental scientists from the University of Massachusetts Amherst proposed the concept of poaching as an environmental crime, defining any activity as illegal that contravenes the laws and regulations established to protect renewable natural resources including the illegal harvest of wildlife with the intention of possessing, transporting, consuming or selling it and using its body parts. The following violations and offenses are considered acts of poaching: Sociological and criminological research on poaching indicates that in North America people poach for commercial gain, home consumption, trophies, pleasure and thrill in killing wildlife, or because they disagree with certain hunting regulations, claim a traditional right to hunt, or have negative dispositions toward legal authority. Millions of protected plants are illegally collected each year. As trophy hunting became popular, poaching activity, in particular commercial poaching, increased in the Western…

Introduction The policies and laws surrounding trophy hunting remain complex, with many scientists, governments and conservationists unable to agree on best preservation and conservation practices and how they interplay with wildlife management plans such as trophy hunting. Management is especially complicated as wildlife often roam large distances and frequently move in and out of parks and protected areas making regulations in, between, and across legal and political boundaries especially difficult . However, there are a number of international conventions and national laws that regulate or provide guidance on trophy hunting.…

Many species have been hunted to extinction or to the point where they are critically endangered. There were millions of bison in the great plains of North America; hunting was so intense that only a few hundred were left by the time the animals became protected. Besides for food, animals are also hunted down for their body parts, such as their fur or feathers, skins and horns. One example is the African elephant that is heavily hunted for its ivory tusks. Hunters are killing the righteous animals, cutting off their tusks and leaving the elephants there to rot and die, just to get money from merchants.…
