Research Essay: Trophy Hunting

Imagine you’re in your front yard and all of a sudden someone with a large gun walks up and shoots you, then takes your head and mount it over their fireplace to advertise for all their guests to see. People actually do that to animals just for fun and because they can. Trophy Hunting is “a legal form of wildlife hunting in which ‘sportsmen’ pay large sums of money for the right to kill animals and take home a trophy” (Dymoke). Trophy Hunting should be banned because and animals are becoming extinct, people are killing for pleasure not food, and it does not help conservations efforts.

For some it is a cultural tradition. Some would say men feel as though, they need to show-off their inferior social status because of how costly it is to hunt. Trophy hunting also is a way for men to show to potential mates that they can provide (Khan). A professor at the University of Victoria in British Columbia “described humans as ‘superpredators’ who don’t follow the typical rules of other carnivores in the animal kingdom-which can have devastating consequences for wildlife populations”(Khan). Some could argue that gender roles would be a factor in why people like to trophy hunt. In today’s society, men gender norms are to be masculine, tough, and able to support their family. In a way, trophy hunting can show that because you are taking a risk in killing such big wild animals which shows that you are brave and courageous. Also because of the amount of money it takes to hunting these animals it can show to potential mates that these men have an abundance amount of money to …show more content…
It’s counterintuitive, but banning the practice would mean the systematic slaughter of wildlife, trampling of unique ecosystems, and possible extinction of rare species. Sacrificing a quota of lions to hunters keep many other alive(Anderson and Downey).Basically, pro-hunters, believe that it is good for the ecosystem to kill these certain animals such as lions or elephants. They believe that killing these animals is ethical because it is maintaining the populations for other species that these predators might eat. But if they are killing off these predators then the other species will just end up over populating

Hunting, as fishing, is an enormous hobby among Americans for centuries. The most common hunting is the hunt of deer, geese, depending on the area you are located even bears. However, men have decided to take the hunting game to another level by hunting bigger and exotic animals, such as lions and other animals located in conservations. In the article “Big Game Hunting”, explains the death of Cecil the lion, appoints locations with the highest rate of Big Game Hunting, when the game had its start, the five most hunted animals and their costs, and how hunting in conservations began to happen. We already know hunting relishes high calibers of fortification in the United States, but what about in other countries and cultures? Just to apportion a few examples, research has shown high calibers of fortification for hunting in Sweden, Cambodia, Belarus, Montenegro, and many more places across the world . If hunting is done morally and in accordance as per laws and directive outline to obviate depletion of the wildlife resource it is an acceptable source of conservation. When research goes remotely deeper, we often find that public approbation or acceptance of hunting increases when it is connected to humans’ primal reasons for hunting and follows the same rudimentary human understanding of hunter ethics. Many people continue to support hunting because it serves many great purposes.…

Hunting is still the way a lot of people produce food for themselves and families, but it also a form of recreation, a form of population control, and even a sport for others. There are many anti-hunting groups and others that share the strong opinion that hunting is both cruel, unethical, and detrimental to wild game species populations. These groups are constantly pushing for the bans of this “blood sport”. However, this is simply not a factual argument and little scientific data, if any, supports these claims. In the remainder of this paper the facts that support ethical hunting will be examined,…

When I say trophy hunting the proper way, I mean you will learn over time how to do everything with the proper tools and equipment to do the hunt the right way. If we didn’t have hunting we wouldn’t be able to generate cash flow from many different parts of the world. Like if you go across the world to shoot one animal and we didn't have rules, laws, or permits we wouldn’t be able to make money from these things. People would just go out and shoot whatever they want instead of paying for it. This would be poaching and we can’t have that.…

I understood little about what it meant to hunt. Hunting is not about sitting in wait to end an animal's life; however, it is about experiencing nature at a primal level while being able to see nature awaken from its slumber, slowly coming back to life as the sun shyly peeks of the horizon, and other details we normally cannot as we go about our daily lives. In an office or at home, I do not get to watch a squirrel gracefully hop from one limb to another, and cannot have one close enough to see it's chest move from it breathing hastily. Killing is the last thing on my mind when hunting because it is merely a necessity to take part in population management of whitetail deer, squirrels, and many other game animals down so my grandchildren can enjoy…

Research Paper Intro For many generations, controversy has surrounded the topic of hunting as tugs between the morals of killing innocent animals and its necessity in the role of the environment as it ties to the importance of survival. Although many have found issues in relation to the ethics of hunting, the popular “sport” helps to control over population, benefits the economy, and is a major resource for nourishment. The practicality and necessity of hunting and its ability to promote survival as a foundational food source and its benefit to the environment outweighs the questionable principles that arouse controversy on the topic.…
