According to Britannica school Bernie Sander, Bernard Sanders, was born september, 8 1941 he is 74 years old. He was born too two jewish parents of Polish descent he grew up in brooklyn. Bernie earned a bachelor degree in 1964 of political science from the University of Chicago. After he graduated he started becoming more active in activist movements such as the civil rights movement and march on washington.(where he walked with Martin Luther King.) His participation in the movements had led him to go to israel to live on a kibbutz(A farm). While in israel he was inspired to “take care of the weak” said Albert Ely who was on the kibbutz with Sanders. Once Sanders returned to the United States he started participating in more movements such as back-to-the-land (working as a union carpenter and freelance journalist.) and anti-Vietnam War act. He ran as an independent several times for Vermont governor which he was unsuccessful at. In 1982, he was elected mayor of Burlington.
