Many strongmen and powerlifters will train by lifting heavy weights and performing low reps. This is because many of the exercises performed will involve compound movements which target several muscle groups at once.
By working more than one muscle group at once, you can not only strengthen the main muscle groups you are targeting, you will also strengthen the stabilizer muscles as well. For example, if you’re performing flat bench barbell presses, as well as strengthening your pectoral muscles, you will also be strengthening your triceps, deltoids, and even your core as well. By performing that one exercise, several muscle groups will become stronger. On top of that, as many of the exercises you perform will incorporate fast-twitch muscle fibers as you perform explosive movements, again, you will find your strength levels increasing as time goes by.

To begin with, for the first few reps, you may feel fine and may not feel anything at all. As you reach ten or more reps, however, the blood will rush into your muscles, leading to increased levels of vascularity, as well as much more impressive muscle pumps, as your muscles will feel as if they are on fire.
Potential Drawbacks Of High Reps Training:
Now we can take a look at a few of the potential drawbacks associated with high reps training:
Longer Durations Before You See Results
One of the main downsides of high rep training is the fact that it can take much longer for you to see results, due to the fact that you are simply stimulating the muscle, as opposed to really stressing it and shocking it. The results are still very impressive, but it can take much longer before you see any noticeable lean muscle
