Failure is apart of life, it’s all around us and how you react to it is what makes the difference. When I got to the high school I started to get into going to the gym and lifting. I just started going with friends mostly for football. I really started to get into it during the second half of my sophomore year and liked the progress I was seeing. In my junior year I then decided to join the powerlifting club at my school.
Once I joined the powerlifting club I started having more structured workouts and was able to more clearly see how much strength I was able to gain. After our twelve week program our coach created was over we were able to find our new max squat, bench, and deadlift. I was really happy with the progress I was making and excited

We had six weeks until our next meet so we spent those weeks training to get stronger I felt like I could handle more so for my deadlift I went to tie my max but I failed. I was upset with myself but also knew that doing squat and bench could take energy from me so I was alright because I felt like I could get it the next one. Another six weeks pass for the next meet and at that one I failed again at 405. Our last meet came after and I was determined to match my 405. I set personal records with my bench and squat that day, I felt like that was my day to get my record of 405. I once again failed I couldn’t believe that with the amount of training I was putting in didn’t pay off.
That day I decided that I was gonna work my hardest to set maxes in every lift the next year including deadlift. It didn’t matter how much as long as I improved it. The summer I spent much of my time getting stronger and overall becoming a better athlete. The beginning of the semester with my coach found my new maxes. I gained 25 pounds on my bench, 40 pounds on my squat and 5 pounds on my deadlift. Those 5 pounds don’t seem like too much to someone just looking at my maxes but they mean a lot to me. Improvement is something to be proud of no matter how big or

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

From week one of Training Peaks I engaged in six days of moderate physical activity and one day of vigorous physical activity. Most of the activities were done as part of normal daily living: walking to class and walking up and down the stairs of my household. For vigorous activity I would take a day to go on a hike in Flagstaff or Sedona. The hikes were about 2 hours long, with elevation gained, and roughly 5 miles round trip. The next several weeks I engaged in more vigorous activities.…
