The learning experience that I have chosen to discuss about is preparing for the poster presentations. During this experience, I had to identify and explain the benefits and challenges of inter- professional practice. I believe that I used communication skills very effectively in order to pass my message across. Me and my group communicated through WhatsApp, which is a messaging platform designed for quick and effective communication. We created a group chat with all my group members talking about the presentation and how we should go about doing it. We also spoke about; which role is allocated to each member of the group. When crating the presentations verbal communication was very vital when we spoke face to face. I listened to each others ideas and thoughts as this is an important interpersonal communication skill. I also presented good body language, which shows that I was actively listening. Another quality that I used to communicate effectively was talking clearly because the message was clearly understood and there was no confusion within my group. From the IP Role Map, I learnt that effective communication between different health care professions contributes to the high-quality care in which is given, not only from my own profession, but those who may also be involved. It is important to communicate effectively with other professionals involved in the team as it can ensure the status of the patient is understood by all involved in their care. For example, a midwife effectively communicating concerns of a vulnerable mother and child to social services. Effective communication can also ensure that a reasonable treatment plan is created and is person centred to the patient.
