Teamwork Investigation Report

Improved Essays
The investigation of how our team performed during the exercise will be assessed by looking through the Belbin profiles, team lifecycle, decision making process, conflict within the team and team leadership. This investigation aim at improves the knowledge and skills for managing a project we might encounter with in the future career. This report will give an in depth Interpretation of how the above elements affect the team. How did the team responded to it is also coved.

Evaluation

(a) Belbin profiles

There are 5 members in our team and 4 of them team workers. In some way it was not ideal because the majority of us was not generating enough argument, which might be really helpful when doing such a complex and difficult project. During the

For me being both a team worker and the only coordinator, I was not ready to take the responsibility to be a leader. Because I put coordinator on tertiary preference and team worker was my primary preference. Meanwhile A and B are both a team worker and a shaper. Although it was a tertiary preference for them to be a shaper but through out the exercise they were always driven and could come out with some good suggestions most of the time. The weakness for them being a shaper is less obvious comparing with the weakness of a team worker. One significant feature of our team is that it had only one plant, one resource investigator and one complete finisher. I consider being a plant did fit the profile of being unorthodox and when it came to communication I was focusing too much on my opinion and I would ignore what others were saying. As a result I was not being helpful when there were more than one problem at the time. C was the resource investigator in the team. He fitted the profile very well because from the beginning of the exercise he was the one that develop contact between group members and was very extroverted. (John Ungerleider, in Halverson et al.2008) Through out the exercise there was no conflict among members. However having no conflict might not necessary has a positive effect on the team. The following paragraph will be illustrating the advantage and disadvantage of having no conflict in the team.

On the one hand having no conflict within the team create a comfort environment which encourage every to work more closely together. Agreement was made in a faster pace without creating an argument to challenge other. Therefore leaving more time to plan ahead and working in a less stressful surrounding that provide a better view toward some detail information. Giving the time constrain that only few hours can be spent on the exercise. It is crucial to spend time more efficiently on getting an agreement rather than arguing with
