Art Personal Statement

I have enjoyed art of many forms all of my life. Much of my spare time is spent drawing and experimenting with many different art techniques. I have also always loved animated movies such as films from Disney, Pixar and many other not as famously known companies. That is why I chose to major in Media Arts in college. With my passion for art, I would like to inspire others to create their own art or become more interested in art itself. My main goal is to create animated films. I want to be able to create animated films that both adults and children can enjoy. I would like to come back here to Troy, my hometown, and give a special showing of the films I have had a considerable part in. I would hope this could inspire others because I would be the local girl who grew up in the small town of Troy. Those that see that would realize that even they could do what they love and pursue their own dreams even if they are a part of a small community. …show more content…
I would hope I can prove those who believe art is a complete waste wrong and give courage to those who have an interest in art to pursue a degree and career in that field. I have had my own share of words like that from a teacher here at Troy High School. Although I do not aspire to be a teacher I would like to be someone who kids in my community can feel like they can freely pursue their art hobbies with due to my help. Our town of Troy is a hard place to make a living because of the lack of jobs. Those who create various types of art can live almost anywhere they desire because they can sell their creations. This could either be selling their creations locally or online on the internet. I would hope to sell my own creations and make others happy and not keep them all to myself. I hope to be able to show others that I can be successful and also be happy at the same

Elbert Hubbard once said “Art is not a thing; it is a way.” Art is all around us; from the floor we walk on, to the color of the walls around us, to the music we listen to on the radio. Many kids have taken on a lot of different forms that did not exist many years ago. Today, we fill our world with street art not exactly thought about to be art like mimes, circus acts, puppetry, mask theater, vaudeville, and storytelling through movement (Rapp 4). Art is an essential part of our society today and has been for many years.…

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

But most of all, I hope to touch the minds and souls of students during my career inspiring them to aspire to greatness and never settling for mediocrity. After establishing myself as a band director, I would like to conduct a few pieces for a world renowned symphony such as the London Symphony Orchestra. Once I become financially able, I would like to start a drum and bugle corps based in Arkansas, allowing Arkansas band students the opportunity to perform at a substantially higher…

Just the other day two of my underclassmen asked me how I was doing as an Art major without knowing that in reality I am a psychology major. These erroneous assumptions that people who excel at something should pursue it as a career has followed me my whole life. I love art and I love being part of the community, but there’s more in me than spurs of creation. People can’t help but to categorize things and people as they disregard facts and evidence while they just assume. Diversity is huge in the art community, no one can exactly fit a description and art is not explicitly a profession but also a means of…

An abundance of people appreciate the arts, whether it be the performing, visual or theatrical areas, on the other hand, I love them. My passion being the visual arts. Instead of writing and spelling at five years old, I was drawing, painting mixing colors and forming shapes not realizing the capableness of my techniques for such a young aged child. Because drawing was the only thing I fancied, every one figured it was “a phase I was going through and would grow out of it”. It never happened.…

My passion for art has followed me since I was five years old, when I was inspired by my kindergarten art teacher, who told us we could paint grapes whatever color we wanted. Being given that freedom made me feel ecstatic. That freedom I was able to have with art gave me a sense of purpose, even at a young age. However, when I moved to a different elementary school, the art teacher stripped us of that freedom. She was very cold and made people dread going to art class, including me.…

It only goes to show that the question that more than likely receives the most generic answers from an audience, can also be the hardest to answer truthfully. What is art? If you were to ask a group of one thousand people that very question, the chances are that the majority of them would answer it by saying something along the lines of “It is and expression of yourself and how you feel” and “Painting, drawing, sculpting, and photographs.” I refuse to be restricted to these two categories, only to answer the same way all others have. That may make me seem stuck up in some way, however, I feel that I have a fairly unique understanding that not many think about.…
