Now, obviously in my opinion I believe that it can be taught, some people are not so easy to convince. In Thomas R. Hoerr’s book, Fostering Grit he states, “Because teaching for grit requires students to experience frustration and, sometimes, failure, we must remain positive, encouraging, and hopeful. Planning to forge ahead despite difficulties makes it more likely that students will persevere, as does expressing support for students’ efforts and applauding their tenacity.” As stated it is not easy to teach grit but when it is taught it is very helpful in students lives and can greatly improve their successes later in life. Staying positive throughout the experience will help because not everyone succeeds the first time. As Angela Duckworth said in Corey Donahue’s essay, “‘Grit is not just about perseverance over time, but also passion over time.’ Thankfully, grit scores are malleable: they can and do change over time.” grit and ultimately their success in school.” There are some people that may succeed the first time but most will not, and being taught grit, and learning that they should push through and give your everything to you schooling and your life to succeed can make a huge difference through your high school …show more content…
In the past few years many teachers have realized this need and have started a trend, if it continues and develops around the world the results could be amazing. Not only would this help students with grades but also with their futures. “Grit is a distinct combination of passion, resilience, determination, and focus that allows a person to maintain the discipline and optimism to persevere in their goals even in the face of discomfort, rejection, and a lack of visible progress for years, or even decades.” And I believe that this is something that everyone should live
