Apple was found in 1976 by two college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak who wanted to change the way the world viewed computers. They wanted to make computers small enough for people have them in their home or offices and user friendly. Jobs and Wozniak started building out Apple I in Jobs garage. The Apple II revolutionized the computer industry with the introduction of the first ever color graphics. Sales jumped from 7.8 million in 1978 to 117 million in 1980. In 1980 was also the first year Apple went public. Wozniak left Apple in 1983 due to a diminishing interest in the day to day running of Apple Computers. With Wozniak leaving Jobs hired PepsiCo’s John Sculley to be president. Then Jobs left in 1985 for bigger and better things, he founded his own company NeXT software and he bought Pixar from George Lucas in 1986. Over the course of a few year, Apple market share suffered slowly after its peak in 1990 and by 1996 experts believed the company to be doomed, so in 1997 they were desperately in need of an operating system they purchased NeXt Software (Jobs’ Company). Not long after making this decision was the turning point for Apple. Jobs revamped the computers and introduced the iBook (a personal laptop) he also started branching out into mp3 players (iPod) and media player software (iTunes).
