Walt Disney wanted to start a company that “fulfilled children’s dreams and created a visual for children to believe that dreams do come true” if you only believe. Throughout Walt Disney’s life he had always wanted to create something as entertainment for the youth. In 1928 his dream had finally came true. Walt Disney created Steamboat Willie! Walt Disney was born with the name of Walter Elias on the fifth of December in 1901. He was born to Elias Disney, an Irish-Canadian, and Flora Call Disney, a German- American, in Chicago, Illinois. He went to McKinley High School, Chicago Art Institute, and Kansas Art Institute and School of Design. Walt was one of four boys and one girl. He lived most of his childhood in Marceline Missouri. When in high school he dropped out of school to join the army. He got inspired to go into the Army by his brother, Roy. Roy served in the United States Navy from 1917-1919. When he was finished Walt Disney decided to follow in his older brothers footsteps unfortunately he was declined. The reason behind this is because he was underage. Getting turned down he decided to join the Red Cross and was sent to France during World War One where he drove an ambulance. In 1919 he moved back to Kansas City Missouri, he decided he wanted to be a newspaper artist. ("Walt Disney Biography.")
