Analysis Of The FTIR Spectrum Of Pva/CS Nannofiber

Improved Essays
The FTIR spectrum of PVA/CS nanofiber was shown in Fig. 1(a). The band at 3255.32 cm−1 was corresponded to -OH stretching and the peaks at 1025.6 and 1450.04 cm−1 for the -C-O band. The peaks at 3445.32 cm-1, 2965 cm-1, 1640.01cm-1, 1598.7 cm-1, and 1361 cm-1 are due to amine NH symmetric vibration, C-H vibration, deformation vibration of the absorbed water molecules, stretching vibration of amino group of chitosan and vibration of C-H, respectively. The peaks at 890.1 and 1100 cm-1 was attributed to saccharide structure of chitosan. The broad peak at 1025 cm-1 indicated C-O stretching vibration [17-20]. A peak at 2965 cm−1 was observed in the FTIR spectrum of the animated PVA/CS/DETA/EDA (Fig. 1(b)) and was related to the C=N group. The intensity of the peak decreased when a new N-H group was introduced to the surface of the PVA/CS/DETA/EDA. …show more content…

    5. CONCLUSIONS Dry waste prawn shell converted to chitin and chitosan by using 3.5% of NaOH and 1N HCl with the temperature range from 20 oC-120 oC in the process of deprotinized, demineralized , decolourized and deacytilated .CMC was synthesized by carboxymethylation, as some of the –OH group of chitosan were substituted by –CH2COOH groups. Carboxymethyl chitosan was used as an adsorbent for the removal of copper from the wastewater. The removal efficiencies of copper were affected by different parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage, temperature, contact time, initial metal ion concentration, anion and cation.…

Extracellular or bacterial cellulose (BC) synthesized by nonpathogenic aerobic bacteria in a culture medium containing carbon and nitrogen sources can be promising biodegradable nanofibers for composite materials because of their excellent mechanical properties [1]. Although BC is chemically identical to plant-based cellulose, it exists in extremely pure form and does not contain any hemicellulose, lignin, pectin or wax materials [2]. In addition, it has higher crystallinity, degree of polymerization, specific surface area, and significantly higher mechanical properties compared to the plant-based cellulose [3,4]. It has some other unique properties, such as low density, low thermal expansion as well as high optical transparency [1,5]. As a…

The main objective of extraction is to isolate and purify organic substances. A chemist is able to achieve this by using either macroscale or microscale extraction for separating a solute from a solvent. Macroscale extraction uses a separatory funnel, while microscale extraction involves a conical vial. However, these experiments for extracting caffeine and isolating a neutral compound uses the macroscale extraction technique. Data Table 1 shows the results gathered from the first extraction experiment, though there has been an error.…

The absorption of unknown # 2 was a lot higher than that of the 0.4 molar standard solution, which was also an indication that the concentration of unknown #2 was much higher than that of the 0.4 standard solution. Since the absorption is directly proportional to the concentration of the solution, we decided to dilute the mixture in a 1:1 ratio with distilled water. The absorbance for the unknown was measured again and the results obtained were tabulated in table 02. Graph 01, which can be found in the appendix, provides a more visual understanding of the direct relationship that concentration and absorption share. The slope of the graph, which came out as 2.981/M cm, measures the molar absorptivity of copper (II) sulfate at 631.1nm.…

During the experiment for part B and C different volumes of copper (II) sulfate, sodium hydroxide, and sodium sulfate were added to the test tubes to produce solution with different pH, absorbances, and precipitates. The equation for the calibration curve was y=3.5067x + 0.0155 and was used in part B of the calculations. The average Ksp calculated for the Solubility Solutions was -7.12x10-13 and the average Ksp calculated for Cu(OH)2 was 5.04x10-7. The differences between the two Ksp were due to the different solvent use part B and C because the reactions impacted on solubility. The average Ksp for the Solubility Solutions should not have been negative, but because the equilibrium concentration of Cu+ for Solution 1 was -0.00356, this causes the Ksp of Cu(OH)2 for Solution 1 to be negative, and the overall average to be negative.…

The desired weight of purified polymer (PVC) was dissolved in Cyclohexanone. The stirring process was continued until got homogeneous solution. The solution was put into clean glass petri dishes; it was placed on flat plate form and left to dry at room temperature. The dried films were extracted from the glass dishes by using tongs clamp. It was found that the best concentration for producing films by film casting without bubbles and can be dismounted easily from the petri dishes, was 7% wt/vol.…

Introduction: The process of complete regeneration of damaged tissues or cells usually referred as the wound healing. Generally, normal wound healing was a tedious and systemic process. Moreover sometimes if the wound was deep into the skin then that wound will be prone to microbial growth and sepsis hence in order to prevent it several therapies were in use. Even though there were many therapies for wound healing such as sutures, ligatures etc, all of them had been failed in promoting faster regeneration of the tissues.…

Gas chromatography (like any other chromatography) is a separation technique in which the mobile phase is a gas. This technique is applied for the separation of volatile substances. This method separates a mixture into its components and is used to measure the concentration as well as it identifies the components. GC creates a time separation rather than physical separation which means that the components are separated in time. After they are detected, a chromatogram is generated.…

Cancers are managed through effective nutrition to supplement drugs, and it is generally believed that good nutrition is effective in preventing and minimizing cancer. Indeed, many plant products including complex carbohydrates have been proven to have bio-functional role, including anti-proliferative, autophagy and apoptosis activity [25,26]. Pectin, especially modified pectins have been found to possess anticancer activity. The most well-known pectin in cancer therapy is modified citrus pectin, which is used in prostate cancer therapy with laudable success, it was found to increase the doubling time of prostate specific antigen in men with prostate cancer [27]. The use of modified pectins in cancer research has mainly focused on acid, enzymatic and heat modified pectins.…
