Cyclohexanone

Improved Essays
The desired weight of purified polymer (PVC) was dissolved in Cyclohexanone. The stirring process was continued until got homogeneous solution. The solution was put into clean glass petri dishes; it was placed on flat plate form and left to dry at room temperature. The dried films were extracted from the glass dishes by using tongs clamp. It was found that the best concentration for producing films by film casting without bubbles and can be dismounted easily from the petri dishes, was 7% wt/vol.
3-3-2 Synthesis of addition of SiC to the PVC: By using casting method SiC/PVC films were prepared at different concentrations of (1.5, 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5 wt. %) using cyclohexanone as solvent. PVC and SiC particle were strictly weighed amount

Typically, c-PEO-Br (0.55g) and NaN3 (0.73g) were dissolved in 20 ml DMF in a flask. The mixture was reacted at room temperature for 24 h. After the reaction is complete, the mixture was filtered through a column of neutral alumina with dichloromethane as eluent. The solution was then concentrated under reduced pressure to remove the solvents, and finally precipitated in cold n-hexane for three times to obtain the purified product c-PEO-N3. A possible chemical reason that this experiment yielded less than 100% cyclohexanone was due to the spontaneous decomposition of sodium hypochlorite, 2NaOCl = 2NaCl + O2, which decreased the amount of reactant present in the initial reaction when hypochlorous acid was formed, which was the oxidizing agent required to oxidize cyclohexanol into cyclohexanone. Sodium hypochlorite decomposed into O2 and NaCl due to a multitude of factors such as exposure to high temperatures, prolonged storage time or sunlight exposure. If a large enough quantity of the sodium hypochlorite was decomposed to limit the reaction that produced hypochlorous acid, the quantity of cyclohexanone produced may be affected. This would have resulted in a decrease in the production…

Hazardous waste is dangerous to the environment and human health when not disposed properly, meaning cautions need to be taken seriously as chemistry students while working in lab. The objective of the Unknown White Compound experiment was to identify the compound by examining its chemical and physical properties. Identifying the unknown white compound to be potassium nitrate was achieved by completing the solubility test, flame test, pH paper test, ion test, pH probe test, conductivity probe test, and synthesizing silver nitrate and potassium chloride to form potassium nitrate. Uncertainty can be due to small contaminations from glassware not properly cleaned, molarity of chemicals not being exact, and not properly collecting the precipitate…

This month I read the book The Compound by S.A Bodeen. This book was well written and fast paced, I like the suspense and the voice. I, however, thought that some of the plot points were a little predictable and at some points even drawn out. Overall I would rate this book an 8/10. In this book Eli and his family are forced into an underground bunker after a nuclear bomb leaves them shell-shocked and heartbroken.…

N-Isopropylnoratropine is a noratropine derivative and an intermediate in the production of ipratropium, an atropine-like bronchodilator drug via an anticholinergic pathway. N-Isopropylnoratropine is used to examine the stability of ipratropium [1]. Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors are acetylcholine receptors that form G protein-receptor complexes in the cell membranes of certain neurons and other cells. N-Isopropylnoratropine is an intermediate in the production of ipratropium and used to examine the stability of ipratropium. Ipratropium exhibits broncholytic action by reducing the influence of cholinergic on the bronchial musculature.…

Calibration 1: Text Cyclohexane is a six carbon cyclic alkane that is unusually stable compared to other cyclic alkanes. This stability can be seen by examining cyclohexane in its chair conformation. Since cyclohexane consists of all sp3 hybridized carbons, it ideally exists with 109.5-degree bond angles. If cyclohexane were planar, it would be forced to have 120-degree angels, and would therefore have angle strain. However, cyclohexane chair conformations are almost completely free of angle strain due to their 111-degree bond angles.…

A fever is not an illness, but rather an indication of an underlying problem or cause within the body. It is characterized by an elevated core temperature measuring above 100°F (37.8°C).1 This increase in temperature is controlled by the hypothalamus, which raises the thermoregulatory set point in order to defend the body.1 Fevers are a great concern in infants, with more children having reported fevers compared to adults.1 Acetaminophen is both a prescription and an over-the-counter medication commonly used in fever management. It is an FDA-approved antipyretic medication works by inhibiting the body’s center of heat regulation in the hypothalamus.2 Fever is a very common adverse reaction that occurs after immunization.2 Acetaminophen has been used for decades in various settings for its antipyretic effects, however the efficacy and safety of using this agent when immunizing infants is investigated. 3…

Methamphetamine also known as Meth has grown into a global health concern, with about 25 million people using it worldwide (Darke, Torok, Kaye, Ross, & McKetin, 2010). Meth use comes with numerous unfortunate consequences for the Meth user, both as a perpetrator and a victim. In one particular study titled “Comparative rates of violent crime among regular methamphetamine and opioid users: offending and victimization” Meth addicts report that, not only have they committed numerous crimes they have equally been victims while addicted to meth (Darke et al., 2010). Most of us would agree that Methamphetamine use is devastating and comes with horrible consequences for anyone involved with this highly addicting drug. The overarching question is; how exactly can Meth use be controlled or even eliminated?…
