Audience Analysis of the David Owsley Museum of Art The David Owsley Museum of Art is located in the Fine Arts Building on the campus of

Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. From sculpture to watercolor, to ancient African tribal

masks and mid-century modern American furniture, its eclectic collection includes various works

of art from around the world (“About the Museum,” 2015). The central mission of the museum is

the cultivation of “lifelong learning and recreation in the visual arts through its collection of

original works of art, engaging exhibitions, and educational programs for the university

community and other diverse audiences (“Mission,” 2015).”

 Intended audience engagement is further revealed in an expanded statement detailing the

educational mission of the museum. Affirming that “the provision of educational programming”

is central to its goal, its purpose is to “further faculty, staff, student, and public utilization and

understanding of the museum and its collection, of museums in general, and of the arts

(“Mission,” 2015).” This is accomplished by the offering of “tours, talks, materials for teachers,

an education database, artist demonstrations, and written materials (“Mission,” 2015).”
