The perfect good is the best thing of its kind. Assuming nothing can be imagined that is better than God, it also proves the perfect Good exists within him (Prose 10.8-9), since he is portrayed as exemplary for all. If he did not possess this then it would not be accurate to say that there is nothing more perfect than God. Prior to this Boethius assessed that true happiness is the perfect good. This leads him to the conclude since true happiness and the perfect good are equal then true happiness resides in God. For example, in some households, parents dictate for their children to take a certain career path. Parents highly influence them to choose a major, because they bring affluence. Parents think that they are doing what is good for their child. Since the children trust their parents and there is the social structure that minors must obey their elders they comply. However, this makes the kids go through years of suffering in studying because it has been ingrained that it is good for them. Through searching for the good they are also neglecting the happiness. Although this will bring them their definition of ultimate good, it will not bring them happiness.
