My whole life I grew up playing AAU(Amateur Athletic Union) basketball for a non-profit amateur sports organization based in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. Ever since I watched my sister run up and down the court and put the ball in the hoop every Saturday and show her passion of loving the game, I knew that basketball was for me. I started playing on an actual team when I was in kindergarten. I played for the YMCA team, in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. I remember when I was in 2nd grade playing in my first game with new girls and boys I’d never played with before. As I ran down the court with my shirt 3 sizes larger than it should be, hanging to my knees, I scored the first basketball and the parents all cheered with excitement. I could hear my mom with an emphatic tone screaming my name. Later on throughout the game I didn’t score again, but I was never a quitter and because of that I continued to play basketball and became better. I’ve been set up in a position all my life to have an exceeding future. Playing college basketball is my dream; mainly a D1 or D2 school. My life is like a basketball hoop, sometimes things don’t go like you would want it to go, like a basketball it sometimes doesn’t go in the hoop even when you think it will. The key to success: “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can 't accept not trying,”…
