Alfred Wegener is one of the most important meteorologist that lived, he came up with a great theory. He believed that the continents were all joined at one point. No one believed him for a very long time. Everyone thought he was crazy, no matter how much evidence he came up with. He found out many different things that proved he was right. There were three main pieces of evidence he came up with, He found fossils on different continents, South america and Africa seemed to fit together, and that some of the climates were the same in different areas. He was a very smart man and he started a new study in a great topic.
To start off with, the one piece of evidence that Wegener found that makes a lot of sense is, fossils of the same animal were on different continents. The Mesosaurus was a freshwater animal, but it was found on South America, and Africa. This was one clue that showed that maybe they were one land mass. Also, take the Cynognathus it is found in South America, and Africa. This is a land dweller so how could he swim across the water to get to the other side. Some of these animals were found half way on the other side of the world. That would be a long travel to the other side of the world. The only animal I can think of that can travel far is a bird because they migrate. …show more content…
“Warm tropical climates are mostly found near the Equator.” (N.p., n.d. Web. 08 Mar. 2016.) This shows that some of the continents use to be in the same area. Also, they found evidence of ancient glaciers by the equator. Who would think of a glacier near the equator, since it is hot and not cold. Alfred saw information of plants of the same species in different places, like a flower that needed to live in a warm or cold climate in the opposite area. Climate was a very big clue also to how the continents came to be so far
