In order to communicate its message, the film will displace the standard narrative of racism in education by portraying a world in which an the main character has institutional racism working him against in the Quarry. My main character is an 18-year-old male of African American descent who lives and works in a low income segment of the Quarry. It will communicate to the audience some of the difficulties that face aspiring students of African American descent face. There are large populations of African Americans trapped in a cycle of poverty, limited in their economic opportunity by their lack of education and limited in their educational opportunity by their lack of economic stability. As a result, both their teachers and they themselves begin to lose hope that they will be able to achieve their full potential. Racial barriers against African Americans necessitate affirmative action despite the death of legally enforced segregation. De Facto segregation is still very much alive in higher education, and without affirmative action programs this injustice could never be rectified. Therefore, we are obligated to do everything possible to level the playing
