Social Media: A Better Option for Today’s Society People all over the world have their own views on social media. A group of people will tell you that social media is one of the world’s greatest inventions; others may try to convince you otherwise. There are two types of people: the type who are against social media for any reasons, including possible dangers, and the type who are all for social media and all of the convenience that it has to offer. The same can be said about social media. “This person seems selfish.” “Why talk about something that only you know about?” “What did you just say?!” These are things that many people have said on social media as a result of misunderstanding or the notion that social media has started to raise a more selfish generation. This is not to say that social media is all bad.
Most social media users are different, and not all have this same problem. Another “bad” point would be the ability to unfollow or even block someone, as it is generally being used out of turn. But whether the problem is insignificant, noticeable, or intolerable, it is best to look past small flaws like these and move on, looking forward to the better part of social networking. People will often say that frequently logging onto social media could signal some sort of addiction. Some may ask, “Is social media even worth it?” “What is the point of social media?” “Why do so many people think it is so important?” While addiction is real, it is definitely treatable. Others will say that Facebook is not the only social media website with problems. Both statements are true. “This person always posts selfies.” “That person just posts too much.” “I just don’t like what this person is posting.” These are all common things that are said and are a prime example of how even an invention as great as social media has small problems.
Whether something is good for a person or not, there always comes a time where a person should always take a break. The same thing goes for social media. Even if there are no signs of addiction, social media can stay a good thing if any breaks, if necessary, are taken. In fact, social media can become even better if a person is not entirely dependent on it. Much like taking years off from college, taking even a day or two off from social media can make the average user more aware of what goes on in the real world as compared to social media, and it can even make them more
