VOLUNTEERISM AND ITS BENEFITS
My religion is kindness. I believe in doing something profitable to make differences in the lives of others. The secret to growth intellectually, physically, socially, spiritually and emotionally is in helping others grow. Mahatma Ghandi once said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. An act of kindness, no matter how small it may be, shall never be considered is considered a waste. Therefore, we all must be kinder than necessary because almost everyone we meet is fighting their own kind of battle. Your life will be well lived if you always think of doing special things for people who can never repay you.
Volunteerism according one Business Dictionary is an act which involves taking initiatives on a tasks, responsibilities or projects. It is all about giving one’s energy, time, and skills freely. A person who actively takes on tasks, responsibilities, or project willingly without the need to be assigned, instructed, or told to do so, is a Volunteer. Volunteers are not paid for services they provide because they are priceless, but not because they are worthless. Voluntary services are not provided for financial gain. Almost everything is done willingly and for free with the ultimate aim of affecting people’s lives. When one takes up voluntary services, he/ she is not paid in money or recognition, but rather he/she is paid in love.
