Indirect-object pronouns vs. Direct-object pronouns
I.O.P. vs. D.O.P.
me vs. me
te vs. te
le vs. lo/la
nos vs. nos
les vs. los/las

Use these instead of constantly restating subjects
1) Direct-object pronouns are those pronouns that represent the nouns directly acted upon by the verb, while

Indirect-object pronouns stand for the noun that is the recipient of the verb's action.
¿Quieres comprar los libros para los niños?
-->Do you want to buy the books for the children?

conjugated verb: quieres
infinitive: comprar
direct-object: libros
indirect-object: niños
2) When writing them, the I.O.P. goes first, while the D.O.P. follows it
Te lo compré.
--> I bought it (masculine/singular) for you.

This is instead of saying:
Yo compré el juguete para tú.
-->I brought the toy for you.
3) You can't have two "L" pronouns next to each other.
le lo --> se lo <-- les lo
le la --> se la <-- les la
le los --> se los <-- les los
le las --> se las <--les las

In other words: instead of using two pronouns that start with "l," change the I.O.P. to "se"
Example of Rule #3

Translate:
Yes, I want to buy them (m.) for them (m.).
Sí, les los quiero comprar.
--> This is wrong, should be:

Sí, se los quiero comprar
4) The I.O.P. and D.O.P. are (1) placed before the conjugated verb (but after the "no" or "sí" if one is present) or (2) attached to the end of the second infinitive, but an accent must be added.
The pronouns can also be added to the infinitive by adding an accent to the last vowel in the infinitive form of the verb. Examples:
comprárselos
devolvérselos
escribírselos
Examples of Rule 4:

Ella está preparando la cena para ti
-->She is preparing the dinner for you.
Option 1:
Ella te la está preparando.
Option 2:
Ella está preparándotela
-->Both mean: She is preparing it for you.
5) Usually, all I.O.P.'s get matched to a 3rd person D.O.P., hence the following are all of the possible combinations following this rule
me lo, me la, me los, me las,
te lo, te la, te los, te las,
se lo, se la, se los, se las,
nos lo, nos la, nos los, nos las,
se lo, se la, se los, se las
Some common words that are often accompany I.O.P. and D.O.P's.
Ya --> now; already
Todavía --> still
Ya no --> no longer
