What is the definition of Physical Property?
Characteristics of matter that can be seen through direct observation such as;density, melting point, and boiling point.
What is the definition of Physical Change?
Change in which the identity of the substance does NOT change.
What is the definition of Chemical Property?
Characteristics of matter that can only be observed when one substance changes into a different substance, such as iron into rust.
What are three examples of physical properties?
1.)Transparency=The property of letting light pass through something.
2.)Boiling Point=Temperature at which a substance goes from liquid to gas.
3.)Melting Point=Temperature at which a substance goes from solid to liquid.
What are three examples of chemical properties?
1.)Flammability=The ability to burn.
2.)Ability to rust=Reacts with oxygen to produce rust.
3.)Reactivity with vinegar=Reacts with vinegar to produce new substances.
What is density? How do you calculate density?
Mass per unit volume. Mass divided by volume.
What is malleability? What does it mean for it to be high and low?
How easily something can be bent and shaped. High=more bendy. Low=less bendy.
Possible products of chemical changes.
bubbles(release of gas), soot, smoke, rust, etc.
Burning Leaves.
Chemical
Mixing salt and water.
Physical
Bleaching your hair.
Chemical
Fireworks exploding.
Chemical
Melting butter.
Physical
A rusting bicycle.
Chemical
Squeezing juice from an orange.
Physical
What is the definition of Chemical Change?
Transforms one type of matter into another kind which may have different properties.
