a wanton disregard by corrections personnel for the well being of inmates. Deliberate indifference requires both actual knowledge that a harm is occurring and disregard of the risk of harm. A prison official may be held liable under the 8th amendment for acting with deliberate indifferent to inmate health or safety only if he or she knows that inmates face a substantial risk of serious harm and disregards that risk is failing to take reasonable measures to abate it |
