What are the smallest living parts of plants and animals?

The cells

What do all cells need?

All cells need food

What part of the cell directs the cells activities?

The nucleus / brain

What job does the roots of a plant carry out?

It anchors the plant. It takes water from the soil

How does sugar get from the plants leaves to the rest of the plant?

Phloem takes it there

How do the nutrients in a plant root system get to the leaves of the plant?

Xylem

What green substance allows plants to make their own food?

Chlorophyll

What is produced by photosynthesis?

Sugar / Food

What process do plants go through to release energy? What materials are used in this process?

Cellular respiration

Sugar and carbon dioxide

Organs work together in an organ system.... True or false?

True

The mouth is part of the digestive system. True or false?

True

During _______, cells of organisms release energy from food

Cellular respiration

________ carries water and minerals throughout a plant

Phloem

________ carries water and minerals throughout a plant

Xylem

During _____, plants make sugar and release oxygen

Photosynthesis

A group of cells that work together to perform the same function is called a(n) _____.

Tissue

The plant cell structure that has chlorophyll is called a(n) _____.

Chloroplast

The ______ is a cell structure that stores water and other substances

Vacuole

_____ is a green substance that is needed by plants to make food

Clore Phil

What are some ways cells help an organism?

The cells make tissue and tissue makes organs and they all work together in groups.

Explain the role of phloem in plants and how phloem forms bark on a tree.

Phloem tubes carry sugar away from the leaves. The sugar is dissolved in water. Phloem carries this mixture of sugar and water from the leaves throughout the plant. The dead phloem protects the new phloem. When that new phloem dies it forms more bark.

A greenhouse is filled with air that contains more carbon dioxide than normal air has. How might photosynthesis and plant growth be affected?

Plant growth will be affected because photosynthesis and plant growth usually have the right amount of Carbon Dioxide but if they have more they have to split it up more
