In the terms of theoretical physics energy is the ability to do work. You apply force and you get displacement. In a more practical world energy is heat, electricity, light etc. Per the theory of thermodynamics; energy is never destroyed it is changes form. I.e. heat/thermal energy converts to mechanical energy to move a car, nuclear energy to electric energy. Two major energy sources that the civilization requires now-a-days are, electricity and heat. Sun, the source of heat/thermal energy & light is incessant, at least for the next few thousand years. It is efficient as in one small plant produces enough energy to run a about 100 homes for about a 1000 year without refueling. Now imagine this times a few hundreds. if all the world used nuclear plants for eighty percent of their energy consumption instead of fossil fuels and natural gasses the world will produce energy efficiently and in massive amounts, which will benefit us globally, socially, economically, and lastly and most importantly Environmentally. It reduces carbon dioxide production by a lot, and the cost of producing nuclear energy is much lesser than the cost of fossil fuel and natural gasses. Biggest plus point is that it is sustainable; as the energy is produced by a chain reaction and radioactive decay (most used elements have a half-life of at least a few centuries). This means that we won’t suddenly run out of nuclear energy source like natural resources. Nuclear energy is sustainable; we have enough radioactive elements to serve hundred percent of the worlds energy needs for at least the next few hundred years. Because most elements used in nuclear plants, Uranium235 has the half-life of about four thousand five hundred million years. This goes to say that even that if the whole world converts to using nuclear energy we will be good for at least a next few centuries. Now moving on from sustainability to environmental safety, nuclear plants are environmentally friendly; they do not emit carbon dioxide (CO2) or carbon monoxide (CO) that causes global warming. Trees do not get cut down because wood is not a necessary raw material for nuclear production. It’s environmentally clean and after the first few years cheap and affordable. Which means that if all off the world’s energy was produces from nuclear plant it would create long and steady jobs for all everyone in all areas of study.
