Positive Aspects Of Nuclear Energy

s nuclear power worth the risk? Are the positive aspects of nuclear power worth the possible negative outcomes? To use nuclear power, Uranium atoms must split, which is called fission. The heat produced from fission is what makes the water turn into steam. The steam is what makes the turbines turn and the turbines are used to generate electricity. Do the positive effects of using nuclear power out weight the possibility of building nuclear weapons? I think with government regulations and maturity of countries nuclear power can be a safe and effective energy source. Even though Nuclear power could be used to make nuclear weapons, I think that we should be using nuclear energy because Nuclear energy is more stable than wind and solar power, and …show more content…
Renewable advocates will say there is plenty of renewable energy to go around for years to come. However, it is not always windy, and the sun is only out during the day. These types of resources will only be good if there are wind and sun, which is out of our control. We can 't make it windy, and we can 't make it sunny. Nuclear power can be regenerated anytime despite wether it is day, night, or windy out. Another plus of Nuclear energy is its footprint on the area of the earth is very small. Wind and solar take up quite a bit of area. Even though the wind turbine itself only takes up a small area, the land around it is pretty much useless except to let farm animals graze. Solar panels can use some useless space on top of buildings, but that doesn’t really amount to enough energy, so solar farms are built. A nuclear reactor can be the size of a semi truck, fit in a submarine, or the size of a house. With a nuclear reactor you get a lot of power without using a lot of …show more content…
No one wants another Hiroshima. If nuclear power can be generated easily, then nuclear weapons are not hard to produce either. It is as simple as more than one neutron from each fission causing other fissions to occur so rapidly that an explosion can occur. Countries like the Soviet Union, Great Britain, France, China, Israel, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and North Korea all have nuclear weapon capabilities. This is a real problem and must be taken seriously. Considering that nuclear weapons have been around for at least 75 years and there were only the two incidents of nuclear weaponry actually used 75 years ago. Once at Hiroshima, and the other at Nagasaki during World War II. I think that nuclear weaponry has been taken seriously and has been handled
