Evaluation of My Current Leadership Skills For the most part, we are moving through the motion without thinking about how our actions would affect others, and not thinking of how we can increase our influence to be beneficial. For that reason, further analysis would reveal that my current leadership skills are far what it should be for someone my age, but since this revolutionary concept of what a leader is relatively new to me, I would say I have learned a lot in this short period. What I have learned over the ten-year period since moving to Canada is astronomical, and this has facilitated the development of my skills that would expand my horizon. Examples of SMART goals that I have developed to thrust me towards leadership include: Upon completion of this course, I would have learned the specifics of what leadership is, and be able to apply those concepts in my daily life. And, performing a periodic assessment of my skills every two years to see if I am at the level I should be and make the necessary adjustment. These SMART goals will allow me to be consistent, establish a true north, and connect me with my work, and my top personal values of accountability, independence, and reliability will help me achieve this. By practicing these traits, my fellow constituents will see the standards I hold and the consistency I follow, and this will inspire and motivate them to create their own SMART goals. By setting goals such as these allow me to incorporate things into my plan that are non-negotiable because at the end of the day if I did something I don’t want to, I will not have any regrets about it …show more content…
In addition to that, I will continue to volunteer as this will allow me to acquire additional skills and improve existing ones that would allow me to become a better leader. Once I entered the workforce, I will seek out a mentor to expand my knowledge to improve my job performance. Ultimately, I need to determine where I want to go as this can assist in the creation of my vision. If I align this vision with others who have common goals, I will gain their trust because they will see me as an equal and that I am not above what they do.
