It’s common knowledge that women are more creative at building social networks and breaking down communication barriers. In fact, though women’s mode of communication has often been dismissed as ‘girl talk,’ such skills can go a long way in the business and office setting. How come? Studies suggest that this unique form of interrelating with friends and peers that’s unique to women results in positive effects because it focuses on intimacy.

This helps in the office setting when female employees can de-stress and unwind to their female peers, thereby creating an atmosphere of closeness in the work environment. It is especially effective in minority businesses where women can relate to each other both socially and professionally—ever been to a hair salon? It’s a near perfect hub for socials and networking.

If created, such an atmosphere can go a long way in clearing the channels of communication and creating a mindset within the office hierarchy that the leadership communicates better with the staff, which produces exemplary results. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine how this can benefit a female owned business. As a result of the female boss’ approach to creating bonds with her employees, the communications barriers that usually inhibit male dominated enterprises may be significantly reduced.

It must be kept in mind that the mode of communications between women in the office must still be expressed within the bounds of professional etiquette. This means no bitching, no backstabbing, and no harmful gossip. Although putting a cap on the last is near-impossible, it must be regulated to maintain the harmony of the workplace.

Males can learn from this too and not by just channeling their sensitive side. Males should simply focus on building trust within their network. Trust relates to emotional connections and when this is established, the lines
