This essay will analyze Nike’s management and leadership style comparing to this quote and examine whether this quote is valid with some examples.

Management involves four basic jobs: planning, organizing, controlling and directing. (Leadership vs. Management, 2014) It is an organization and coordination of a company in order to achieve certain objectives. A good manager can make employees more effective. Under these leadership styles, employers set goals and give orders which employees need to obey. However, they are more concern about subordinates’ welfare. Also, managers encourage participation in the project. They communicate a lot and they share ideas. It’s CEO, Mark Parker, describe their leadership as an “edit and amplify”. (Blazek, K, 2016)He said their, as leaders, jobs are focus their process of helping their subordinates hone their ideas. But in most of the time, managers in Nike use different leadership approaches depending on what circumstances demand. Sometimes they need to go fast and hard, and sometimes they will slow down and look for the ideas from the bottom who may see bring possibilities. Its structure can allow employees to work more efficient. The resources can be used more efficiently because experts and equipment can be shared across projects and products and projects are coordinated across functional departments. (Quaintance , J, 2013) Also, employees are in contact with many people, who helps with the sharing of information and ideas and can speed the decision process. This can encourage their workers to keep thinking and innovating and build strong relationship between workers because they are connected. For example, a new shoe may consist of many technologies, and those departments which research different technology need work together. They need to share ideas to combine those skills and make a perfect product.
