The type of organization structure that used by Adidas is matrix design structure. Adidas groups people and resources by function and product. The structure is very flexible. The employee in the projects, engineering and manufacturing department could have two bosses, because they will work together according to the projects. The employees will work with different people after a project end. The six mains department in Adidas are marketing, human resources, finance, manufacturing, engineering and projects department.
The Marketing Department holds a fundamental part in advancing the business and mission of the Adidas groups. It fills in as the substance of Adidas, planning and creating all materials representing Adidas. It is the Marketing

The role of this department are practically, planning, organizing, auditing, accounting for and controlling Adidas's finances. The finance department also produce Adidas’s financial statement. (Adidas-group.com, 2017)
The main function of manufacturing department is to make what Adidas sells. The manufacturing department divides into three part, which is assembly, testing and production. The first part is to purchase and collect raw materials, component and equipment that needed to produce the products and assembly it after that. The example of raw materials are rubber, cotton, cloth etc. The next part is testing, this department make sure all end products are tested before facing the market. They ensure all products are safe and in perfect condition.
The engineering department consist of system, electronic, software and mechanical engineering. The major purpose of this department is to help Adidas to develop new electronic technology to make their work more efficient and effectives. For instance, system engineer develop information system that able to receive input, process and analyst data, store information and produce reports that can help Adidas’s top management to make decisions, do prediction and forecasting, identify trends and monitor company

It is one of the most important department in Adidas. Adidas has various type of projects, for example “The Original”, “Forever Sports” and “The Equipment”. “The Original” project offers 3 product segments: Re-introduced classical goods, Re-interpreted Adidas sport version, Re-designed based on older Adidas styles. While the “Forever Sports” project spotlights “sports performance” products that Adidas aims at fashion oriented customers. “The Equipment” project create multifunctional sports products. The project admin will coordinate Adidas’s projects and manpower.
In a nutshell, every project requires joint power and talent from the engineering and manufacturing department. Hence, Adidas use this matrix organization structure to utilize manpower, so that every department can help one another to achieve the company
