Divergent Character Analysis

Register to read the introduction… Tobias grew up terrified of his father for his father beat him for everything he did wrong or seemed to be wrong. Scared to be with his father, Tobias joined Dauntless to prove to himself he wasn’t afraid of his father even when Fear Tests said other whys. Tobias grows a love interest in Tris and begins to protect her from all the little things in life. Tobias goes this because he wants to give her what his father couldn’t. Tobias soon conquers his fear of his father and grows stronger than ever.
TONE
The tone of Divergent is heroic, mysterious, and romantic. "It was always my intention to save you. My throat feels tight. But I betrayed you. I left you." – Tobias Eaton (Veronica Roth). This quote gives a sense of romance between the character and another. “I feel like someone breathed new air into my lungs. I am not Abnegation. I am not Dauntless. I am Divergent. And I can't be controlled" –Tris Prior (Veronica Roth). This quote gives a sense of mystery because they don’t know what she will do next. The tones in this book changes quickly as the characters evolve and as the climax comes closer and closer.
