Character Analysis: The Compound

You should always make the choice that feels right to you. When you make decisions you should trust your instincts. Eli the main character from, The Compound, written by S.A. Bodeen, did this well. He knew his dad was trying to hide something from him. When he started finding clues in his dad´s office, he started to realize his dad has been keeping secrets from his own family for the last six years while they were in the compound. Eli found evidence in his dad’s office like the Cd and then he found that his dad was lying about there being no wi-fi. “I was pi**ed, pi**ed at the possibility that my father was keeping things from me, maybe even lying.”(page 83) After finding the cd in his dad’s office and finding out that his dad lied about the wi-fi, his instincts told him his dad was keeping something a secret. His dad was probably keeping other things from Eli. …show more content…
He found out that Eddy and his grandma weren’t dead but they also told Eli that there was no nuclear attack. “You’ve lied to us from the beginning-there was no nuclear attack-it was all a lie. We could have left here anytime.”(page 163) His dad was lying to him and his family the whole time, there was no nuclear war. Eli’s dad has been keeping them in the compound for the last six years when it wasn’t to protect them.
