The Yale Food Addiction Scale (YFAS) developed in accordance with the Diagnostic and statistical Manual of Mental illness sets criteria for diagnosing substance abuse. In order to be able to diagnose food addiction with this YFAS, at least there must be three addiction symptoms together with a clinically significant disorder present (Meule, Rezori, & Blechert, 2014).
