Martin Luther King Junior said, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." A completely different point of view was put on the Holocaust rather than slavery in America, even though the same sort of thing was happening in both countries. If you think about it, both the Jews and the African Americans were starting to lose rights in both time periods, however, only one decided to speak out about it. Prior to the Holocaust, no one spoke out about the slight changes to the Jewish lifestyle. What harm could a curfew and wearing a yellow star have? It wasn’t bad enough to seem outrageous. These small steps were what lured in people to think what was happening was normal. Although, as more laws were passed, worse things started to happen. However, countries are focused on improving issues inside the actual country, unless if something is happening in a country like them. For example, not one western country is trying to end violence in Sudan, because why would countries like Canada need to help people in Africa. It’s not on the news and barely anyone in North America knows about it. But, if people were being murdered on the streets of Britain there would be an outpour of support from tons of countries and it would end immediately. It is just like the Holocaust, did most Christians really care that Jews were being murdered, they were just Jews how were they relevant to them. To add on, individual people are so focused on themselves and are too busing shopping or playing on their phones to notice what horrible things are happening right now.
