Starting from an early age around 8-10 years old females are not allowed to be in direct contact with males unless he is a blood relative, husband, or in-law. Any relative that a Muslim is not allowed to marry is mahram, if they are of the opposite sex and have reached puberty. In the Movie version of The Kite Runner the president of Kabul held a punishment at halftime of a sports game. He scheduled to have him and some of his Taliban soldiers stone this woman to death, which means they kept throwing stones and rocks at her till she died. It is against Taliban policy to punish a woman in the streets, so they tried to find an alternative for the females bad choices. The Taliban soldier’s either went after taximen or shopkeepers, if a taximan were to pick up a girl with her face uncovered or unaccompanied by a mahram then the taximan faced a jail sentence and the husband was to be punished for her actions.
