So by using other people’s words it makes him look more credible even though he isn’t the one saying those words. One of the main reasons Younge is credible is because he presents himself as very professional by using correct language throughout his article and because his article was published by a professional source. Another reason that he is credible is he is a writer for The Guardian (a British newspaper). He also went to college at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Although he didn’t share this information in his paper this still makes him credible because he is a professional author. In my next paragraph I will analyze how Younge uses emotional appeal.
Younge’s use of emotional appeal in his article is very strong. It is important that Younge makes an appeal to the reader’s emotions because this is an emotional topic. Whenever people are killed by guns it is extremely emotional for the friends and families of the people who were killed by gun violence. In fact, it was a big part of his argument. His use of logic was important because this topic requires a logical approach to solve the problem. He points out that there are too many guns in America and that was one of the reasons he believes the gun control movement fails. This was a very logical approach to the problem of gun violence because there are too many guns in America, there’s no possible way you can seize all of them. An example of this is when he was interviewing Judy Williams (a leader of the Mothers of Murdered Offspring group) and she says “The reality of it is, they are not going to do away with guns in this country…. The fact is that they are so plentiful on the streets and people have them…. It's ludicrous to think you can take guns out of people's homes in this country…. It ain't gonna happen” (Younge 1).
