Organic foods are becoming more popular because they are healthier. Recently, studies have shown the health risks that pesticides and herbicides cause. The World Health Organization estimates three million cases of pesticide poisoning each year and up to 220,000 related deaths (1). All the unhealthy chemicals going into your body from the non-organic food are damaging your organs. It is especially harmful to growing children. If you eat organic you are helping the environment even though you do not know it. Farming organic is preventing less pollution going into the soil, groundwater, lakes and rivers and then that makes the fruits and vegetables clean and fresh for consumers to eat (3). Just by farming organic you are not just helping the soil and water, but it helps release less co2 emissions into the air and that prevents climate change (3). Organic farming also helps support the wildlife with non-toxic clean food that will not harm them. When people are growing non-organic they are using all sorts of machines and that is using many fossil fuels and energy. Organic uses 30% fewer fossil fuels and less energy compared to non-organic.
