Why People Eat Non-Organic Foods

People eat non-organic food in their daily lives, but do they realize what it does to their bodies? Non-organic foods are not benefitting your health or the economy. They are harmful to the environment, and we should be avoiding them whenever possible. Organic farming is the clear choice that many people make. Some people are confused about what to eat, but by reading this essay I am sure that your opinion will be changed to eating organic!

Organic foods are becoming more popular because they are healthier. Recently, studies have shown the health risks that pesticides and herbicides cause. The World Health Organization estimates three million cases of pesticide poisoning each year and up to 220,000 related deaths (1). All the unhealthy chemicals going into your body from the non-organic food are damaging your organs. It is especially harmful to growing children. The pesticide residues on the non-organic foods can cause many types of diseases and physical and mental disabilities for many people.

If you eat organic you are helping the environment even though you do not know it. Farming organic is preventing less pollution going into the soil, groundwater, lakes and rivers and then that makes the fruits and vegetables clean and fresh for consumers to eat (3). Just by farming organic you are not just helping the soil and water, but it helps release less co2 emissions into the air and that prevents climate change (3). Organic farming also helps support the wildlife with non-toxic clean food that will not harm them. When people are growing non-organic they are using all sorts of machines and that is using many fossil fuels and energy. Organic uses 30% fewer fossil fuels and less energy compared to non-organic. Organic also causes less soil erosion (4). The economy is the only way a local community can strive to get more population, so what happens to all the money that the farmers collect from selling
