China has always been opposed to India joining the NSG for a few reasons. The first reason being that if a county joins the NSG without signing the Treaty and can have access to nuclear materials and make nuclear weapons is exactly what the NSG stands against. (Sajjanhar) The second being that India and it neighbors haven’t always seen eye to eye and is worried that India could protentially spark something with nuclear weapon which could lead to another war. The third reason is that India is growing at a steady rate and might not be as strong or have as much political strength as China has right now, but it will at some point. India is starting to start to match China’s economic influence and industrial strength in places in Africa and is starting to spread to other places in the world. China is trying to become the major super power in Asia that everyone looks to, like it was before the Opium War. So this is a little threating to China influence in Asia.
