Why and how Europe rise to the top?

One of the reasons might be because European kings wanted more power and they got more power by expanding their empires. European countries were geographically close and most of them were really small so they could have easily learn from their rivals’ errors and copy their improvements and avoid their mistakes in war and equipments. European kings had a single-minded focus on war and ability to tax. The wars and the taxes lavished on them and gave an impressive lead in military technology. This has been linked to the unique political and geographical environment of Europe, which pitted states against each other for 71% of the period between 1550 and 1600. The superior firepower of guns, armour and steel swords and lances provided a technological advantage that was used in conquering the Incas in America, with their softer bronze weapons and padded armour.…

By the beginning of the fourteenth century Europe seemed to have recovered from the effects of the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. The threats from Vikings, Magyars, and the Muslims were ebbing and Europe began to emerge as a dominant military, economic, and political power. Fundamental factors that drew European exploration, conquest, and settlement were trade, resources, and expansion. The whole purpose of Christopher Columbus traveling over seas was to find new trade routes to Asia, but ending up accidentally "discovering" the New World. With the news of discovering the New World, people from Europe and Spain have begun to sail and conquer and claim territory nearly killing off the inhabitants of the New World. Conquering these already discovered lands means countries like Spain and England could expand further west of the hemisphere. With claiming new territory, the Europeans found new foods and lands to dig up gold.…

The two main reasons the European Explorers sought out to find land was to find goods and to create colonies for the search of those goods. Conquistadors were a big part of this finding of land, they heard of places and wanted to find them for themselves, to see it with their own eyes. Some Explorers were friendly, and worked with the Natives, while others enslaved, threatened, and slaughtered many to get what they wanted, their riches. While not all Europeans mistreated the Natives of the foreign lands they came across, many of the English and Spanish had, they shipped out boats and boats of gold and silver each…

Countries like Spain, Portugal, France, and England competed for land that was already inhabited, doing anything they could to get what they desired. Resulting from the European dominance in trade, exploration, and colonization, the most significant consequence of the Age of Discovery was the lasting harsh treatment of Native American and African people and the destruction of their cultures. Opportunities for people and their countries opened with the discovery of new lands. Over everything, people desired to spread their own culture, gain riches, and become glorified.…
