Marie went to college in Paris to advance her studies and earned her degree in physics and mathematics. Eventually, she succeeded her husband as Head of the Physics Laboratory at the Sorbonne, verifying that gender doesn't matter when it comes to knowledge. When Marie’s husband passed away, she took his place as Professor of General Physics in the Faculty of Sciences, and it was the first time a woman had ever held that position. Furthermore, through her knowledge and skills Marie Curie showed that women can be held to the same standard that men are and still be successful. In addition to Marie’s skill level, Marie should also be recognized on a stamp because she discovered many aspects of radioactivity.
