Research Methods Whittier College Campus Safety Discrimination As Whittier College students, we are all actively roaming the campus whether we are going to class or engaging in social activities. It may or may not be apparent to certain individuals, but we are under the constant supervision of Campus Safety Officers. On the Whittier College website, Campus Safety explains their mission statement saying, “Our mission is to provide a safe and secure environment in which our college community members can live, work, study, and enjoy the overall experience that is Whittier College. To fulfill this goal, campus safety provides 24/7 security services using a combination of foot and vehicle patrols”. As a student I can say that I definitely feel the campus safety officer’s presence and I am interested to study and understand other student’s perspective on the topic. Being under the watchful eye of campus safety, they are always watching our social behavior, for this study I intended to discover other student’s thoughts on safety vigilance and discrimination provided by the Whittier Officers. I define Safety Vigilance as the continuous surveillance of students by Whittier College Campus Safety.
